Personnel Services provides advice and support to assist managers in effectively managing the Council’s employees. It also
provides corporate advice for the Council as a whole on all employment issues. This covers 5 main areas:
Personnel
Employee relations, recruitment and selection, pay and grading, change management, equal opportunities, occupational health
and management of health at work, employment policies, single status. Administration: contracts of employment, employee records,
administration of policies (e.g. maternity, exit monitoring), internal clerical agency, liaison with job centre.
Health and Safety
Safety management, risk assessment, safety training, occupational health issues, safety inspections and audits, liaison with
HSE, safety policies.
Employee Development
Corporate training and development for employees and councillors including policies, personal skills, IT, supervisory skills,
team building; customised departmental training; ED policies, including appraisal.
Job Evaluation
Team implementing the national job evaluation scheme.
Our service is mainly for internal employees and managers.Some advice and support also given to voluntary bodies.Information
to the public mainly on recruitment but information is also available from local Job Centres and from Departmental contacts
