The fee for a Building Warrant application is set by the Scottish Building Standards Agency and is based on the cost of the proposed building work. The bigger the job, the higher the fee. Please note that the fee is for making the application.
The table sets out the fees for the lodging of a Building Warrant. The fees are relative to the estimated cost of the building operations proposed. Certain discounts may be appropriate where certificates from approved Certifiers of Design are provided. If work has commenced or has finished , the fee for lodging the fee for lodging a late application for a Building Warrant or submitting a Completion Certificate where no Building Warrant was granted, is subject to a 25% increase.
If the estimated cost of your building work appears unrealistic we may want to have the cost of the work confirmed. If so, confirmation will be needed from an independent Chartered Quantity Surveyor.
To avoid delays in having your application processed, please make sure that the Building Warrant fee is enclosed with your application.
Fees can be paid by cheque, please make them payable to The Moray Council.
If you are disabled and your home needs to be adapted for you, you might not have to pay some of the fees. If you would like further information contact a Building Standards Officer.
