Building Standards - Completion Certificate

When your building works are finished, you must submit a Completion Certificate to the Building Standards Section.  It is important that you submit the Completion Certificate only when you are satisfied that you have carried out all works in conformity with your Building Warrant.

Before the Completion Certificate is accepted, it is likely that a Building Standards Officer will inspect the work that you have carried out to confirm that this is correct and Building Regulations have been complied with.

Where electrical work has also been carried out an Electrical Certificate should be completed by your electrician and submitted with your Completion Certificate.

We will normally carry out an inspection of your works within 10 working days of submitting your Completion Certificate.

The acceptance of your Completion Certificate must be confirmed before you may use or occupy the building.  All papers relating to your Building Warrant and to the acceptance of your Completion Certificate are important and should be retained with your Title Deeds as they will be required should you sell your property.
