Not all of the building proposals need to obtain a Building Warrant. Many small ancillary buildings such as sheds and carports, external walls and fences are exempt, subject to not exceeding certain limits on size or height. In addition, many alterations may be carried out within your home that although requiring to comply with Building Regulations are exempt from the need to obtain a Building Warrant.
An information leaflet is also available from the Council Access Point or area offices to help clarify the type of work that you may carry out without need of a Building Warrant.
