The Moray area is covered by the Moray Structure Plan (approved by Scottish Ministers in November 1999) and the Moray Local Plan 2000 (adopted by the Moray Council in April 2000).
The consultative draft stage of the Local Plan Review (August - October 2005) saw nearly 700 representations submitted. As many of these were "multi-topic" there are nearly 2000 individual issues to respond to.
At the moment it is hoped to report on these representations to a special meeting of the Environmental Services Committee in May 2006. Thereafter, an amended Plan, the Finalised Version, will be published for a further period of consultation when formal objections will be invited. Any objections received, which cannot be resolved, will be referred to a Public Local Inquiry, where a Reporter from the Scottish Executive Inquiry Unit, will be appointed to arbitrate.
Following the publishing of the Reporters findings, Moray Council will then proceed to adopt the new Local Plan. Until then, the current Moray Local Plan 2000 will remain in force.
