Direct Debit Payment

General Information

Payment by direct debit is a safe and a convenient method by which you can make payment of your Council Tax bill. The advantages of payment by direct debit are recognised by many Council Tax-payers - more than 64.5% of Moray's Council Taxpayers (as at 30th September, 2007) already pay by this method, and the number who are taking advantage of its convenience and its ease of payment is increasing.

What are the Benefits of Paying by Direct Debit?

Ask yourself: "Am I wasting my time doing one of the following tasks each month?"

  • Spending part of my free-time queuing at my Bank or Building Society  to draw money out of my account
  • Queuing at the Council (although we do try to keep the queues in our Collections Offices as small as possible)
  • Writing out a cheque and posting it to the Council
  • Paying for envelopes and stamps
  • Worrying whether that month's instalment has been paid
  • Dealing with a reminder-notice when you forget to pay

If you answered 'yes' to any of these questions, make payment of your Council Tax bill by direct debit and reclaim your free-time today.
