Committee - Referrals from other Committees

Items which require to be referred to another Committee for a decision should be reported to that Committee as soon as possible following the referral decision. In this regard Committee Services will assist, where practicable, in the preparation of the referral report in consultation with the appropriate Head of Service.

In the case of a straightforward referral or recommendation the Clerk to the Committee making the referral/recommendation will prepare a report, in consultation with the appropriate Head of Service, for submission to the other Committee and/or Council.

When additional information is required to accompany a referral/recommendation then in the case of:-

Minor additional information - the Head of the Department making the referral/recommendation shall ensure that the additional information is provided to the Clerk in good time for incorporation into the referral report. In the event of the additional information not meeting the deadline for the issue of the report then the report should indicate that the supplementary information will be provided at the meeting either by way the circulation of a supplementary note or an oral report at the meeting.

Substantial addition information - in the event of substantial additional information being required in order to refer a matter to another Committee/Council it is the responsibility of the appropriate Head of Service to arrange for the preparation and submission of a report to the appropriate Committee and/or the Council.
