Landslip Warning- 2 May 2008
A significant landslip has occurred on the bank of the Spey. The affected area is situated 2km upstream from the A96 road bridge, between Ordiequish and Burnside of Dipple Farm at the intake pool (grid reference NJ340574). Earth continues to fall down the bank and into the river. This poses a danger to those on the water and as such, the landowners - The Crown Estate – strongly advise that canoeists and other water users do not access the water 50 metres down or upstream from the affected area. Please note that those who do access any part of the Spey do so at their own risk."
Moray is a superb environment with a wealth of outdoor access experiences. Increasingly outdoor access has become a key service area of Local Authorities like The Moray Council, with specific duties and responsibilities resulting from recent legislative changes underpinning a public right of responsible access to the countryside. Moray Council is committed to a community and partnership based approach to unlocking the economic, social and environmental benefits to be gained from the development of outdoor access.
