As well as providing a Committee Service the Committee Services Officer as Clerk to the Children's Panel Advisory Committee and Children's Panel Training Advisory Committee the Committee Services Officer within Committee Services also provides the day to day administrative support to these bodies.
Children's Panel Advisory Committees
Children's Panel Advisory Committees comprise Scottish Minister and Local Authority representatives and like Children's Panel members they are volunteers and unpaid.
The role of the Advisory Committee is to:-
The recruitment of Panel Members takes place annually, in September. The Scottish Executive runs the recruitment campaign with recruitment meetings held locally. Preliminary interviews are held during October with final interviews in November. The Committee Services Officer, as Clerk to the Committees, is required to be in attendance at the final interviews.
Panel Members are appointed for an initial term of 3 years and may be re-appointed for further terms of up to 3 years.

Children's Panel Training Advisory Committee
The Children's Panel Training Advisory Committee meets on a regular basis in order to identify the training needs of Panel Members so as to ensure they are adequately trained pre-service and in-service. Four Universities administer the training in Scotland and in respect of the North of Scotland this is undertaken by The University of Aberdeen.
