Moray Council have purchased a software messaging system which allows messages to be sent to registered contacts by email, SMS, mobile, telephone or fax.
Residents in areas of Elgin who have previously flooded can register for the scheme which will notify them of potential flooding events. Those registering can nominate two contact names each with two contact numbers.
Contacts will be updated on an annual basis, each September should we be advised of an update at another other time, the database will be updated at the earliest opportunity.
Those who subscribe to the Automated Flood Warning System will receive an automatic message to all of their nominated numbers.
An example of an initial warning message may be “This is a message from the Moray Council. A Flood Warning has been placed, by the Scottish Environment Protection Agency, on the River Lossie. You may wish to take measures to protect your property. For further information contact the Floodline Tel 0845 988 1188 or visit their website www.sepa.org.uk”.
Please download the form and return to the address on the form. For further information on the system please call Direct Services 01343 562525.
