Freedom of Information - About the Moray Council

The Moray Council was created by the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1994. It is the local authority for the geographic area of Moray.  Moray has a population of about 87,000 and is a largely rural area. The largest towns in the area are Elgin, Forres, Buckie, Lossiemouth and Keith. The Council has an annual net revenue budget of around £150 million and delivers a wide range of services throughout Moray. These include:

The Moray Licensing Board is administered by the Council and deals with liquor licensing within Moray. The Board has a separate Publication Scheme.

The Council works closely with other public agencies (e.g. NHS, Police, fire authority), Community Councils and the voluntary sector.
