Freedom of Information - Accessing information not in the Publication Scheme

The Publication Scheme contains information which the Council wishes to make routinely available. The most common requests for information should fall under this category and we hope that the Publication Scheme, in addition to our website, will act as a "self service" means of accessing this information.

If the information you want is not in the Publication Scheme then the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 has introduced a general right of access to all Council information from January 2005 apart from exempt information (detailed in Paragraph 6).The Act states:

A person who requests information from a Scottish Public Authority which holds it is entitled to be given it by the authority.

Anyone can make a request for information, to do so send a written request:
  • by post to: The Corporate Policy Unit, Council Offices, High Street, Elgin, IV30 1BX
  • by Email to: info@moray.gov.uk

In order to speed up the processing of your request, please include the following in your request:

  • provide your name and the address details where you would like the information to be sent
  • provide a detailed description of the information that is required
  • state the preferred form of access (for example: paper or electronic formats) and we will fulfil this where possible

You will receive a response to your request within 20 working days of receiving your request.
