Information Rights - Freedom of Information General Information The Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 aims to increase openness and accountability in the Public Sector by giving people a right of access to information held by Scottish public authorities. The Act applies to almost all public bodies in Scotland including local authorities, the NHS, colleges, universities, the Police, the Scottish Parliament and the Scottish Government. Read the Guidance we have prepared for more information.

The Moray Council aims to make as much information as possible directly available to the public through this website. If you can’t find what you are looking for here then the Act gives you the right to receive this information from the Council.

 There are some exceptions which the Guidance sets out in more detail.

All of our staff are happy to deal with informal requests for information and should be able to provide you with a speedy response. We have a Customer Care Policy  which sets out standards that the Council has set for responding to you.
