Did you Know...

1 in 5 adults in Scotland have a low level of literacy skills
1 in 5 adults find using the yellow pages difficult
1 in 4 adults cannot calculate their change when shopping

This shows how common it is for people to have some difficulty with everyday use of numbers, writing or spelling. The Essential Skills Service is here to support adults in developing their existing skills in reading, writing, numeracy, problem solving and communication.

Free Support

Free support is provided in small groups or 1:1 tuition in a variety of locations throughout Moray helping adults to increase their confidence in everyday activities e.g. shopping, budgeting, handwriting, filling in forms, helping a child with homework, preparing to move onto college or upgrading your skills to help with promotion at work?.

Each person who enquires about support is asked to meet with one of our Adult Learning Co-ordinators. At this meeting we discuss a flexible learning plan to best suit their needs and look at solutions to any problems that may make participation difficult e.g. childcare, transport costs, shift work etc.
