PPP Schools: Keith Primary
-
Keith
Primary School
is split between two sites with one site being occupied by pupils in the early stages of Primary and the other being occupied
by the older children. The junior site was built in 1864 and the senior site was built in 1939. Four of the classes are
located in poor quality huts in the playground. An abandoned pre-fabricated former dining hall occupies part of the site,
and children at the Primary School presently shares dining facilities with the adjacent
Keith
Grammar School
. Playing fields are also shared with the Grammar School and there is no formal boundary between the two establishments.

Keith
Primary School
serves the population of Keith in the East of Moray. The school provides pre-school and primary education, and enhanced
provision for pupils with additional support needs. The roll at September 2007 was 346.
Proposals:
- A new Primary school will be built in the grounds of the existing senior primary school, which adjoins the Grammar school.
- The Primary School will incorporate a 50-place nursery. The new building will also incorporate modern facilities and resources
for children with additional support needs. The new Primary School will be provided with its own dining hall.
- Following the completion of the new building, the existing senior school building, the former dining hall and the temporary
classroom units will be demolished, and new playing fields created, which may include a new all-weather pitch for the Grammar
school.
- The position of the new building and adjacent playing fields will need careful thought to arrive at the best solution for
the Primary and Grammar schools, and the means of safe access for vehicles and pedestrians must be considered.
- The current building serving the junior school will remain for disposal by the Council as it may see fit.
