The Council has participated in a Working Group with other Highlands and Islands Councils, and Highlands and Islands Enterprise
to consider the arrangements of the Crown Estate. The Group prepared a report which has been considered formally by each
member Council and HIE. All the Councils and HIE supported the general findings and conclusion of the Report.
The review of the Crown Estate included aspects of particular relevance to Moray such as rural estates, salmon fishing, foreshore,
seabed and continental shelf. The Report concluded that there was sufficient general concerns about the historical and current
arrangements of the Crown Estate to justify asking for a review of those arrangements, to ensure that they contribute more
fully to the delivery of public sector policies and the wellbeing of the people of Scotland.
The Group is seeking meetings with UK and Scottish Parliament politicians to continue the debate, any local concerns within
Moray can be raised at the Working Group and in future discussions with the parties concerned.
