Sections within  Community Services

The Community Services Department has 3 main areas of responsibility:  

• Community Care covers a range of responsibilities and services including: domiciliary care; meals on wheels; supporting those with a learning, physical or sensory disability; occupational therapy; and support to older people.
• Children and Families Social Work  deals with: adoption and fostering; child protection; residential and leaving care; children’s panel, drug and alcohol issues; and out of hours services.
• Housing  deals with: applications for and allocation of housing; homelessness; property repairs; private sector housing; grants; travelling families; and tenant participation.

We have published a Community Services Improvement Plan.  The Service Improvement Plan (SIP) is a key reference document that provides the rationale and framework for the major areas of the Department’s activities.
