The Roving Journey Man

The Boys with Lee outside Elgin Town Hall. The Roving Journeyman.

The Corries worked as a small team. Ronnie Browne was the business manager, and ironed the costumes before the show. Roy Williamson was the musical arranger. Their van driver was Lee Elliot, Ronnie's brother-in-law, while the office was organised by Ronnie's mother-in-law, who also made the costumes.

This intimacy also extended to the other aspects of their work. They had their own recording studio and record label, and used the same photographer for publicity pictures year after year. The Bonnie Blue LP Cover. This intimate atmosphere permeated their concerts. Although the Corries could fill large venues, their annual tour travelled the length and breadth The Corries, Ronnie and Roy.of Scotland, with diversions south of the border. Their audiences were full of familiar faces; friends rather than fans.

After 29 years of working together, their partnership came to a tragic end in 1990 when Roy died after a long illness. Ronnie realised that he could never find another partner; the Corries had been such a unique combination. He has now embarked on a successful solo career, continuing to bring Scottish traditional music to the widest possible audience.
